Presented by The Barony of the Osprey - October 27th - 29th
Fort Gaines Historic Site
51 Bienville Boulevard
Dauphin Island, Alabama 36528
Come join us as once again we gather at the Fortress by the Sea. Meet old
friends, or make new ones, learn skills, do battle, and camp within it's
hallowed halls. This is a one-of-a-kind site and if you have never visited
before, now is the time. Activities for the weekend are as follows:
Heavy fighters will begin Friday night with a torchlight tourney at 9:00 p.m.
with armor inspection 1 hour before, plus there will be a variety of fights on Saturday including tunnel battles, the running of the Gatalop, and more. On Saturday we will also offer Youth Combat and Rapier Fighting. Further Saturday activities will include A&S classes and a scavenger hunt. As evening approaches get out your feast gear and enjoy a buffet style feast with us. It is STRONGLY recommended that if you plan to partake of the feast you pre-reserve. It has sold out within hours of the site opening every year it has been offered. After dark we will have reveling into the night. This site is discreetly wet - no original containers please.
Crash space in the fort is limited to 100 and tenting in the fort is period
pavilions only. This rule is by request of the fort and must be followed.
Mundane tenting is allowed outside the walls in the grassy area. Further
camping is available at the Dauphin Island/Ft. Gaines Campground next to the fort. For more information you can contact the campground (251) 861-2472. This is a true historic site, meaning there are no beds, lights, or other modern conveniences. If you wish more comfort ask the Reservationcrat for information about renting a beach house or hotel. To reserve crash space in the fort, contact the Reservationcrat BY MAIL as early as possible. Include SCA and legal name, proof of membership, and a check or money order made payable to SCA, Inc./Barony of the Osprey. ALL MERCHANTS MUST PRE-RESERVE - contact the
Reservationcrat to make sure there will be room for you. Remember, space at this site is very limited, and though all reservations must be mailed on or before 10/14/06 it is recommended that you reserve as early as possible, especially if you want crash space or period tenting within the fort.
