What I Wish I Could do For a Living

What is the S.C.A. you may ask. Well, to put it simply, it's a bunch of people interested in History, who like to recreate certain aspects of it. Granted, it's a more idyllic version of History than those days really were. Most people who are in the S.C.A. are fighters. There are a lot of different aspects of medieval society that they focus on.Some people are artisans, and recreate objects using the same methods they used in the middle ages. Some people are musicians, cooks, smiths, or any other vocation that existed in those days. The thing that most people know about the S.C.A. is the recreation of combat and battles. This is the thing I like to do. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than making my enemies helm ring like a bell!There are a lot of rules that the S.C.A. follows to make sure the combat is safe (so you can go back to the modern day world and go back to work). Even though you aren't killing you opponent, you still inflict bruises and such. There are a lot of different S.C.A. chapters all over the world. Look them up in the phone book or on the web, and go check them out. Most of the people are "different", but I find them all to be friendly and willing to do just about anything for another S.C.A. member.

This is what I look like when I get ready to go out on the field of battle. I like to be prepared for anybody and anything! In the S.C.A. you pick a time period and a name for yourself. I selected Lake Como, Italy, circa 1300. This gives me an opportunity to get dressed up in full plate armour, and be a total mercenary with no allegiance. I just want to fight and drink. I picked the name Larian LeQuella of course! My Friend Jason and I are trying to get a household going in the SCA. We are calling it The Household of Gryphon's Keep. Not really sure where Jason wants to go with this, but there is a link.
